Mackinac Island

I've been to Mackinac Island a couple times in my life (as a Michigander, it's pretty much a requirement). The most recent time was in 2012. Here are some of my favorite photographs from that trip:

Sleeping Bear Dunes

In 2012, when I went on an Out West road trip with my husband and friends, we took the long way back home to Metro-Detroit - via Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and snaking down through some "can't miss" spots in the northern Lower Peninsula as well.

Here are some of my favorite photographs of the Sleeping Bear Dunes area, which I took on that trip. The Sleeping Bear Dunes was recently named the most beautiful vacation spot in America, and it's certainly true that there are some gorgeous views. For those who don't know it's location, it's on the north-western part of Michigan's Lower Peninsula (the one that looks like a mitten). It boasts gigantic sand dunes overlooking Lake Michigan.

Retro Spirals Doodle 2

This fun blue and orange abstract drawing was also created with Prismacolor pencils and Strathmore toned gray paper. I'm really enjoying myself with these quick and loose abstract sketches - so expect to see more in the future!

I plan to have these available for sale on my Etsy shop soon - as prints and notecards.

I call this one "Retro Spirals Doodle 2":

Retro Wave Doodle 2

This 5"x7" abstract colored pencil drawing was created with Prismacolor pencils on Strathmore toned gray paper. Because of it's similar design aesthetic to "Retro Wave Doodle" (the blue and green themed drawing I did a few weeks ago), I named it "Retro Wave Doodle 2." It has a bright yellow and red color scheme:

The pics I posed on Instagram of this drawing were well-received. I loved the comment "this made my heart happy"! :)

Secondary Garden Doodle

Here's another recent abstract colored pencil drawing. Like the others, this one is 5"x7" in size, and was created with Prismacolor colored pencils and Strathmore toned gray paper. I will be using these drawings to create prints and notecards, which I will soon put up for sale in my Etsy store.

I call this one "Secondary Garden Doodle" - not only because it's the second "garden doodle" I've done in this series (with organic, floral-like forms), but also because it utilizes a secondary triad of orange, green and purple.
