Colored Pencil Drawing: Grandma's Hyacinth

Here is the next 4"x6" colored pencil drawing in this series of four, which I gifted to my grandma this past Christmas. Each was created with Prismacolor colored pencils and Strathmore toned tan paper.

This one is "Grandma's Hyacinth"

First, here is the source photo I used:

Here is the step-by-step of how I created the drawing:

Colored Pencil Drawing: Grandma's Pink Lilies

The reason I wanted to share those photos I'd taken of my grandma's garden (see the last three posts) was because I used four of those photos as source material to create a Christmas gift for my grandma this past December. My husband helped me pick out a collage frame that had room for four 4"x6" images, and then I made her four small 4"x6" colored pencil drawings - all of flowers from the her garden.

She absolutely LOVED the gift (as I knew she would)! So today and the next several days, I will show the creation of each of those small drawings.

Today we're looking at "Grandma's Pink Lilies," which was created with Prismacolor colored pencils and Strathmore toned tan paper (as were all four of the drawings).

Grandma's Garden - Tulips

Today I'd like to share (some of) the many photos of tulips I've taken over the years. My grandma had a great collection of tulips, including some interesting striped varieties, which she planted next to her house. I loved seeing those every year; it was a sign that it was finally spring!
