Custom Name Painting: Henry

I recently painted another 8"x10" watercolor painting for a friend who recently had a baby.

First, I traced the letters onto watercolor paper, and taped my paper down to keep it flat while I painted.

Then, I carefully painted around the letters, blending two different shades of blue watercolor paint together to create the painterly cloud look below. I also flicked a very wet/full of paint paintbrush onto the surface, to get some small drops of paint splatter throughout.

These first pictures were taken when it was still wet.

And here is the final painting, dry and untaped from the table:

I trimmed the paper down to 8"x10" in size, so that it would fit into the blue-gray frame I'd purchased.

Finished and framed, this painting is now ready to be shipped to the parents of a new baby boy named Henry!

The parents told me they loved that it was the first personalized thing their child would ever own (besides Henry's birth certificate and social security card, of course), and that the colors were stunning!

It's hard to believe, but our adorable little mutt is now four years old today! Here are some of my favorite photos of Ginny taken in the last year.

Graphic Design Projects (March 2018 - March 2019)

Today marks my three-year anniversary of working at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield as a graphic designer!

Three years ago, I hastily put together a graphic design portfolio on this blog, which included images of freelance work I done since 2011, projects from my Campus Life job at Eastern Michigan University (2009-2010), and projects from my EMU Graphic Design classes. (You can see that blog post here, if you're interested.)

Then in 2017, I posted some of what I'd created in my first year at Temple Israel. (You can see that post here.)
And in 2018, I posted more graphic design projects, which I completed in my second year. (You can see that post here.

Today, I continue the tradition, showing off some of my favorite projects from the last twelve months, categorized into the following groups:

- Logo Designs & T-shirts
- Brochures & Mailers
- Multi-Page Documents (Books & Zines)
- Posters, Flyers, and Ads
