Pattern Pagoda in Black and Green

This 8"x10" patterned watercolor painting uses three tubes of watercolor paint: light green, a darker blue-ish green hue, and black. I love the interesting shades of green that are created when those colors blend together!

Once I finished painting all the areas between the pattern, I untaped the paper from the table, and framed and matted it so it would be ready to hang. Since it's non-representational and the front is unsigned, it can be hung in any direction, horizontally or vertically.

Pattern Sydney in Orange and Green

This 8"x10" watercolor painting has a really unique pattern! I designed it digitally in Adobe Illustrator, then traced the pattern onto watercolor paper to paint.

I chose a fun orange and green color scheme for this fun pattern! I used a blueish-green hue straight from the watercolor tube, but mixed my own orange with red and yellow watercolors.

Once the painting was finished and dry enough, I untapped it from the table, and then matted and framed it so it would be ready to sell. Like all of my abstract pattern paintings, I kept the front unsigned so that it could be hung horizontally or vertically, in either direction.

"Vintage Photographs" 4x6 Watercolor Paintings

I painted another set of four 4"x6" patterned watercolor paintings - this one with a "vintage photograph" color scheme of black and white on two paintings, and sepia for the other two paintings.

I started by tracing patterns onto watercolor paper and taping the paper down so it would stay flat while I worked.

I painted the two "sepia" watercolors first, using pale yellows and light brown pigments.

Then I painted the two black and white paintings, using black watercolor pigment. I tried to use a lot of water so the black wouldn't get too dark, and it would be shades of gray instead of true, dark black.

Here are the finished four paintings:

I framed them in a single black frame with a white mat, cut with four openings for four 4"x6" paintings. Because the fronts are unsigned, they can be hung in any orientation, depending on if you want the black and white paintings horizontal, or the sepia ones horizontal.

"Patchwork Farms" 4x6 Watercolor Paintings

I titled this set of four patterned 4"x6" watercolors "Patchwork Farms" because the orange and green color scheme reminded me of how Midwestern farmland (or forest) looks when peering down on it through an airplane window - like a patchwork quilt of greens and oranges (depending on time of year).

I chose four different patterns (from my collection of patterns I've designed in Adobe Illustrator over the years) and traced them onto watercolor paper. Then I taped them down so the paper would stay flat while I painted.

I purchased several single frames that would fit four 4"x6" paintings in this orientation (with two paintings horizontal and two vertical) - so knowing that I would eventually be putting these four watercolors into one of those frames, I went ahead and taped them down that way to start, so I could see how the final product might look while I worked on each individual painting.

I painted the two reddish-orange watercolors first.

Then I painted the two other watercolors, which I used a mix of green, orange, and red pigment to complete.

Here is the finished set of four paintings - taped down and still drying in the first photo, and framed and ready to hang in the pictures that follow. Because the fronts are unsigned, these abstract paintings can be hung in any orientation, with whichever painting you want in each corner.
