Custom Name Painting: Henry

I recently painted another 8"x10" watercolor painting for a friend who recently had a baby.

First, I traced the letters onto watercolor paper, and taped my paper down to keep it flat while I painted.

Then, I carefully painted around the letters, blending two different shades of blue watercolor paint together to create the painterly cloud look below. I also flicked a very wet/full of paint paintbrush onto the surface, to get some small drops of paint splatter throughout.

These first pictures were taken when it was still wet.

And here is the final painting, dry and untaped from the table:

I trimmed the paper down to 8"x10" in size, so that it would fit into the blue-gray frame I'd purchased.

Finished and framed, this painting is now ready to be shipped to the parents of a new baby boy named Henry!

The parents told me they loved that it was the first personalized thing their child would ever own (besides Henry's birth certificate and social security card, of course), and that the colors were stunning!
