Rochester Adaptive Adventures Logo

If you saw my Graphic Design portfolio I posted last week, you've already seen this logo - but I wanted to talk about it more specifically, since I spent a lot of time working with the Rochester Adaptive Adventures organization in Rochester, NY to get this logo exactly right for them.

Rochester Adaptive Adventures partners with the community to ensure that people with disabilities have choice in adaptive sports and inclusive recreation. They work with businesses, municipalities, service providers, and community organizations to connect people with disabilities and their families with services and supports they need, focusing on helping individuals with multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, developmental disabilities, spina bifida, and other medical conditions and disabilities. (You can read more about them at their website here.)

For their logo, they wanted to have the full name of their organization, their "RAA" acronym, and their tagline - "Inspiring hope. Improving ability." They also wanted to incorporate bright colors, and settled on bright orange and green.

The liked the look of the "vintage" or "rugged" look with the grunge-design around the circles. It fits with their sporty, outdoors environment. The bright colors also fit well with the company, reflecting their positive energy and outlook.

Here is the final logo:

Here is the one-color version of the logo:

(The letters can be either black or white, or might change depending on the background color.)

And here is an alternate logo with a longer proportion, to be used on pencils, pens, letterhead, etc.

(Again the "RAA" text could be black or white.)

I had a lot of fun working on this logo. It went through many iterations before we landed on this one. I love how it's relatively simple and sleek, but also has unique details - like the grunge texture and the bright, eye-catching colors.
