There are six roses in the top row of my new 22"x30" colored pencil drawing on black paper. Here is the step-by-step process of how I drew the first rose, in the top left corner.
1. Light colored pencil to mark where the lightest parts of the rose would be:
2. Adding in more layers of reds and pinks, mixed with light peach:
3. Adding small details like spots of blue or yellow/brown, and drawing leaves and grass in the background:
For scale, here is the entire drawing, with only the first rose finished. By the end, there will be thirty roses.
